Swedish Massage, Relaxation

60/90/120 minutes: $85/$135/$155

Swedish Massage is a very relaxing and therapeutic style of bodywork. It combines oils or lotion with an array of strokes such as rolling, kneading, and percussion to help the body improve its circulation. The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body, enhanced mental clarity, improved appearance, and greater flexibility.

Chair Massage

10 + minutes: 1/minute

Chair massage is a popular way of relieving stress and releasing tension right in your home or workplace. You receive your massage in a specialized ergonomic chair which I bring to your location. In addition to the usual health benefits of massage, another benefit of chair massage is that it is done over the clothing. With seated massage, you can avoid the discomfort and awkwardness that you may feel in disrobing for a traditional massage. Also, chair massage sessions are usually shorter than traditional massage, making it convenient enough to fit into your busy schedule. I offer chair massage to groups of people at a time, such as employees at a medical facility, or perhaps a car dealership.. high stress jobs where people can use a quick pick-me-up massage!  Please call to discuss further.

Deep Tissue Massage

60/90/120 minutes: $85/$135/$155

Deep Tissue Massage is a form of bodywork that aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body. Deep Tissue Massage is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries. Due to the nature of the deep tissue work, open communication during the session is crucial to make sure you don't get too uncomfortable. Keep in mind that soreness is pretty common after the treatment, and that plenty of water should be ingested to aid with the flushing and removal of toxins that will have been released from the deep tissue during the session.

Energy Work

30/60 minutes: $45/$85

Energy work is based on the belief that everyone has a "life force", and that the body needs to sustain its balance for optimum health. Anytime you experience emotional or physical illness, it indicates that your life force has simply become unbalanced. I work directly with your energy field to restore balance and flow to your entire system. And once your energy field has been restored to full health, your body will follow.

Geriatric Massage

60/90/120 minutes: $85/$135/$155

Geriatric massage is a form of massage designed to meet the specific needs of the elderly. It helps to improve blood circulation, relieve pain, and also increase range of motion. If you are elderly, geriatric massage can help you maintain and improve your overall health, as well as regain certain physical functions that have been reduced due to aging. In addition, since the elderly don't typically receive enough physical touch, this massage can also help alleviate symptoms of loneliness or depression.

Myofascial Massage

60/90/120 minutes: $85/$135/$155

Myofascial massage is a technique used to treat injuries and discomfort, reducing pain and increasing range of motion. Myofascial massage differs from other types of massage in that it targets the fascia - the membrane surrounding muscles - rather than the muscle itself. Since fascia completely encases every muscle in the body, imbalances in the fascia can have serious effects on your range of motion and comfort level. While other forms of massage can overlook the fascia, myofascial massage focuses specifically on releasing tension in this important membrane.

Myofascial Release

60/90/120 minutes: $85/$135/$155

Myofascial release is a form of soft tissue therapy intended to eliminate pain, increase range of motion, and rebalance the entire body. It does this by using massage techniques to stretch the fascia and release the bonds that exist between the fascia, muscles and bones. Fascia is the connective tissue that connects and covers all muscles, organs, and skeletal structures of the body. Direct myofascial release is sometimes known as deep tissue work. Indirect release applies light pressure and gently stretches the fascia; this allows for increased blood circulation and relief from pain.

Neuromuscular Therapy

60/90/120 minutes: $85/$135/$155

Neuromuscular therapy is a system of massage techniques that were developed in the 1930's by Dr. Stanley Lief in England. It uses a holistic approach towards healing, emphasizing and stimulating the body's natural ability to heal itself. Neuromuscular therapy also enhances the function of joints and muscles, and accelerates the overall healing process by facilitating the release of endorphins.

Oriental Bodywork

60/90/120 minutes: $85/$135/$155

Oriental bodywork aims to restore and balance the flow of energy (Chi) throughout your body. It uses gentle hand and finger pressure along specific points and energy pathways (meridians) on your body to restore your body to full health. There are many forms of Oriental bodywork, but they all share a common foundation in Chinese Medicine. They simply differ in their use of specific techniques to balance your energy.

Reiki

30 & 60 minutes: $45 /85

Reiki is a Japanese form of energy work that cleanses and balances the energy system in the body. As a result, the body's natural self-healing mechanisms strengthen, helping to establish optimum health. During a session, I work directly with your energy field to remove blockages, detoxify your system, and restore your vital life force energy. Reiki utilizes a gentle laying on of hands to conduct the necessary energy force between us. The benefits of Reiki range from the release of habitual mental/emotional stress to alleviating chronic pain.

Shiatsu

60/90/120 minutes: $85/$135/$155

Shiatsu is a Japanese form of massage therapy. The word Shiatsu comes from two Japanese words - "shi" (finger) and "atsu" (pressure). In addition to the direct stimulation of pressure points along the energy pathways of your body, gentle stretching techniques are applied over a wider area of the body to integrate the point work and encourage the flow of Chi (energy) throughout the body. Shiatsu is a meditative healing art that honors the body, mind and spirit.

Trigger Point Therapy

60/90/120 minutes: $85/$135/$155

Trigger Point Therapy is a style of bodywork that focuses on stimulating and releasing "trigger points" in your body. Trigger points are tender areas of tension similar to acupressure points, except they occur in the belly of the muscle rather than along the energy pathways of the body. These "knots" are built up throughout a person's life due to physical, mental, and/or emotional stress. During a session, focused pressure is applied through a variety of techniques order to release your trigger points. This process can be quite painful at times, yet the effects are lasting and profoundly transformative.

Thai Massage

Thai massage is more energizing and rigorous than most other forms of massage therapy. It's also called Thai Yoga massage, because I use my hands, knees, legs, and feet to move you into a series of yoga-like postures and stretches. My clients say Thai massage is like doing yoga without doing any of the work. No oil is applied, so you are fully dressed during the session. A single Thai massage session will help you release stress and relieve pain, and help you function more effectively at work and home. *This modality will be available July 2018!

Palliative Care and Hospice Care

30/60 : $45/$85

Palliative Care Sessions-

This article best describes the process.. but there is so much more to the power of touch than can be explained with words. To be able to connect with a person and help them gain relief from pain and/or fear; to soothe the body and mind.. it's a humbling ability that I do not take for granted. With both an open heart and a gently healing touch, I do my very best to bring comfort and peace to you and your family for both long-term illness~palliative care, and hospice care. Please call me to discuss session duration and price. ~Kim

How Can Massage Therapy Help those in Hospice and Palliative Care?

As with most client populations, patients in hospice and palliative care settings are likely dealing with a variety of issues—some that are physical and some that are more emotional—and massage therapy can help manage many of them. “Massage has been shown to help decrease anxiety, agitation, pain and joint stiffness,” Cheers explains. “Massage therapy also impacts quality of life by increasing overall relaxation.”

There is research to back up these claims. A 2014 study focused on integrating massage therapy into palliative care found statistically significant changes in pain, anxiety, relaxation and inner peace of patients, decreasing both pain intensity and anxiety while increasing the patients’ sense of relaxation and inner peace.

In 2013, research published in Complementary Therapies in Clinical Practice showed that adults with rheumatoid arthritis may feel a decrease in pain, as well as greater range of motion in wrists and large upper joints, after receiving regular moderate pressure massage during a four-week period. Additionally, in a 2012 pilot study published in Military Medicine, veterans indicated significant reductions in ratings of anxiety, worry, depression and physical pain after massage.

More recently, a 2016 collaborative meta-analysis of research on massage therapy for pain—conducted by Samueli Institute and commissioned by the Massage Therapy Foundation with support from the American Massage Therapy Association—found that, based on the evidence, massage therapy shows promise for reducing pain intensity/severity, fatigue and anxiety in cancer populations when compared to active comparators.

Adler also believes hospice and palliative care patients benefit from the one-on-one attention massage therapists are able to give them. “The massage therapist gives undivided attention to the patient,” she says. “This supports the patient both physically and mentally, providing relief to sore muscles to someone who is confined in a wheelchair or hospital bed, for example, as well as relaxation for the mind as they come to grips with their own mortality.”   (Vallett, M.
